After just a short distance in the sun, you may find your clothes soaked, your head aching, and your limbs exhausted. A common reaction is to immediately reach for a vitamin tablet in hopes of “regaining your strength.” However, thirst, dizziness, or reduced concentration after heavy sweating often suggests fluid and electrolyte loss, and does not automatically mean your body is deficient in vitamins.

Nausea, headache, diarrhea, weakness, fatigue, or abnormal heart rhythms may occur with inappropriate use and be mistaken for heat-related exhaustion.

Calcium, magnesium, or zinc may interfere with the absorption of certain medications if taken too close together.
